How do you start to make a healthy journey into the new year? By having breakfast. Yes you’ve heard it over and over so by now you know that it’s important to eat within 2 hours of waking up.
I give it that stretch because getting the kids to agree to a breakfast and play nice and quiet takes some time. And sometimes a bowl of cereal just feels to boring. To bring beauty into my breakfast really does perk me up to eat in the morning.
The first is a blueberry-strawberry mixture, topped with a mango banana puree. Add some fresh blueberries, chopped pecans and chia seeds and you’ve got a nutritious breakfast!

Here’s how to make the Layered Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl with Blueberries:
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 cup mango
- 1 banana
- chopped walnuts
- chia seeds
- In the blender, puree together the strawberries and blueberries. Pour the mixture into a bowl.
- Clean the blender, then puree together the mango and banana. Carefully pour the mixture on top of the berry mixture.
- Top with fresh blueberries, chopped walnuts and chia seeds.
- Serve immediately.
Since Alicia and I are both busy trying to get our kids up in the morning and ready for school we know that if we don’t jump on breakfast it never happen. If you can get your bestie or your husband to be encouraging in giving gentle reminders about breakfast it’s a great way to keep yourself on track.
Welcome 2017 in by respecting your body more and making the commitment to eat breakfast every day. It’s all about starting small and as moms we are great at taking care of everyone else first. To make the family healthy as a whole we need to look out for ourselves too.
